Finding Harmony: At The Start of A New Month
#01 By actively engaging in the process of shedding old patterns and welcoming new experiences, we can cultivate a greater sense of harmony within ourselves and our surroundings.
Hi Beloveth,
We are in a new month and we have another chance to reset, start over or continue the journey.
What’s on your horizon? What will you start this month, stop this month and continue this month?
Starting over in a new month carries with it a bouquet of emotions and perspectives. As I pen down my thoughts, I’m reminded of the rollercoaster ride this decision often entails. The truth is, beginning anew is both terrifying and exhilarating. It’s like standing at the edge of a precipice, ready to dive into the unknown.
What Will I Stop
At the edge of my precipice for this month, I chose to leave behind a mindset that no longer fuel my passion. A mindset that says I will never get “it." And instead embrace truth which say I will get it one day. Once I continue to put the work in.
So what’s the “it” for me? Well that’s financial stability. I look forward to being at a place in my life that I can confidently and freely allocate my resources effective to the spaces and places I so desire without a deep concern about my financial stewardship.
As young professionals financial stewardship can feel abrasive and insurmountable because the season of life does not match the pockets. Right!? Whether that is because we have so much loans to pay off, the income does not match the financial responsibilities or saving seems far fetch because life is “lifing” right now. Whatever the reason it can feel very challenging.
So for the month of April I will choose to do the work that serves me. Such as budgeting, saving and assessing my expenses to ensure I am showing up the best way that I can for me and my goals.
What Will I Continue
Conversely, continuing something into a new month can be a reaffirmation of our values and commitments. This month, I chose to persist with my morning routine of bible reading and journaling, a practice that has anchored me amidst life’s tumults.
Continuing this ritual was a testament to its value in my life—a constant in the face of change. It underscored the power of consistency and how, sometimes, the act of persisting can be as transformative as the act of beginning or ending.
What I will Start
As I reflect on the past few months, I realize that I have been neglecting a crucial aspect of my well-being - rest. In the hustle and bustle of daily life, it’s easy to get caught up in the never-ending to-do lists and forget to take a moment for myself. However, as April begins, I have made a conscious decision to prioritize rest and make it a central focus in my life.
Acknowledging the Importance of Rest
Rest is not just about getting enough sleep at night; it’s about taking breaks throughout the day, allowing myself time to recharge both mentally and physically. I’ve come to understand that rest is not a luxury but a necessity for overall health and productivity. By acknowledging the importance of rest, I am setting the foundation for a healthier lifestyle.
Creating a Restful Routine
To kickstart this new beginning, I have decided to create a restful routine that includes designated times for relaxation and self-care. This routine will involve setting boundaries around work hours, incorporating mindfulness practices such as deep breathing and stillness for at least 15 minutes. Also, ensuring that I prioritize activities that bring me joy and peace.
Letting Go of Guilt
One of the biggest challenges in prioritizing rest for me has been letting go of the guilt associated with taking time for myself. Society often glorifies busyness and equates productivity with worth, making it difficult to justify moments of rest. However, I am learning to reframe my mindset and understand that self-care is not selfish but essential for my well-being.
Finding Harmony
As I embark on this journey towards prioritizing rest, letting go of limiting beliefs and maintain a healthy routine. I am finding a new sense of harmony.
Balancing work commitments with personal time, social engagements with solitude, and physical activity with relaxation is key to leading a fulfilling and sustainable lifestyle.
In this journey of starts, stops, and continuations, I’ve learned that each decision carries its own weight and significance. Starting over is a leap of faith, stopping is an exercise in self-honesty, and continuing is a celebration of commitment. As the days of the new month unfold, I’m reminded that life is not just about the grand beginnings or endings, but also about the quiet continuities.
It’s in this beautiful mosaic of choices that we find our true selves.
So friend, take a moment to share with me what you are choosing today.
Until next time.
